Did you know indoor air pollution in the home can be significantly higher than outdoor air pollution? That's why it's important to have a properly operating air conditioning and heating system at all times, which includes not only the air conditioning or heating unit itself, but the ductwork, the filters, condenser and evaporator coils, and air registers as well. All work together to bring you comfort and protect you from outdoor allergens, pollutants, and temperatures. Routine filter changes and properly sealed ductwork are the biggest keys to preserving current indoor air quality, however if you need a hand or advice on how to improve your home's indoor air quality, give the IAQ Experts at Fox Service Company a call!
Here are some other key areas where you may be able to improve your home's Indoor Air Quality.
Odor Control and Air Purification
The REME HALO air purification device mounts seamlessly into your existing or new HVAC system and purifies the conditioned air as it is forced through the system. These ozone-emmitting devices can help reduce and eliminate strong odors from pets, molds and other unpleasant sources, leaving your air fresh and healthy. Fox Service Company is a registered and licensed RGF vendor and can install most units and recommends the HALO model. Call us to day to find out more!
Air filtration is a crucial part of your air conditioning and heating system operation. Not only does it improve and preserve your indoor air quality, it also helps keep your HVAC system clean and operating at peak efficiency. A dirty or clogged filter can drastically increase the load on your air conditioning system, and dramatically increase your energy demand, which can result in higher cooling and heating bills in Central Texas. Avoid this problem by changing your air filters regularly, according to your air conditioner manufacturer's specifications. If you need a hand with this, Fox Service Company is glad to help!
Carbon Monoxide Leak Testing
Carbon monoxide poisoning on average causes 500 deaths per year in the US. For every person killed there are another 5 that will require some form of hospital visit. This makes carbon monoxide the leading cause of poisoning death in the US. The symptoms of CO poisoning present themselves as flu-like symptoms without a fever. This makes it easy for doctors and first-responders to misdiagnose. Only about 1 case in 10 appear to actually be diagnosed at all. Even worse, only 1 in 77 will be properly diagnosed based on symptoms alone. Carbon monoxide is more often misdiagnosed as flu, viral infections, depression, psychosomatic illness, Parkinson's, Crohn's disease, asthma, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Often no diagnosis is made at all. Over 60% of the time, carbon monoxide poisoning isn't discovered until someone collapses outright. Surprisingly, carbon monoxide leaks are only discovered during your HVAC system service calls only 30-40% of the time. Routine maintenance, like our Priority One Maintenance Program can significantly reduce the chances of exposure to CO gasses, through calibration and testing during our gas heating inspections.
Combustible Gas Leak Detection
Gas leaks can be a problem with explosive consequences for homeowners. It is critical to detect and locate gas leaks before an accident can occur. In 2000-2004, an estimated 2,410 home structure fires resulted from natural gas ignition, and an estimated 1,390 home structure fires resulted from LP-gas ignition. Fox air conditioning technicians are licensed and fully trained to detect and repair gas leaks on your heating system during inspections of the HVAC system. A routine maintenance program, like our Priority One Maintenance Agreement, can greatly increase the chances of early detection of gas leaks before an accident can occur.
Ultra Violet Light Air Purification
Ultraviolet light emitters installed in your Air Conditioning & Heating system can disinfect the home's air supply by killing 99% of all viruses and germs found in HVAC systems. Harmful germs and or viruses can accumulate in your home's air, especially when you keep the doors and windows closed, reducing Indoor Air Quality dramatically. If you'd like to find out more about how UV Lighting can improve your family's air quality, contact Fox Service Company.
